How to join ConnectShareCare video

  1. Click Join in the top right corner.
  2. Enter your email address.
  3. Click CONTINUE.
  4. You'll receive a verification email. Please verify your email address by clicking the link we sent you. Check your spam if you do not receive the email.
  5. Read and scroll to the bottom of the Terms of Use, and click AGREE & CONTINUE.
  6. Choose a username. Your username is the nickname that represents you and is visible to other members. You do not have to use your real name if you would like to remain anonymous.
  7. Choose a unique password.
  8. Click ACTIVATE MY ACCOUNT.

How to Sign In

  1. Click Sign In in the upper right.
  2. Enter your email and password.
  3. Click Sign In.

How to Follow a Support Group

  1. Select Support Groups in the green toolbar on the homepage
  2. Click Follow beside the support group or groups you find you would like to join.

Click Following to unfollow a group and no longer receive notifications about the group.

How to Join a Discussion

  1. Select Support Groups.
  2. Click a support group that you would like to interact with.
  3. Click the title of a discussion. This will take you to the discussion thread where you can read all the messages.
  4. Click Comment and write your message.
    • @mention any members you'd like to specifically reply to
    • stay on topic or start a new discussion if you'd like to talk about something different in the group
  5. Click Comment to submit your message.

How to Start a New Discussion

TIP: Before starting a new discussion, you may want to use Search to see if there is already a discussion for your topic or question that you can join.

  1. Select Support Groups.
  2. Click a support group that you would like to interact with.
  3. Click Start a Discussion.
  4. Enter a title on the topic you want to discuss.
  5. Briefly describe the topic to help others find it.
  6. Write your message and click POST DISCUSSION.

How to Mention Another Member

ConnectShareCare lets you mention other members so they are informed of your post.

To mention another ConnectShareCare member:

  1. Type "@" and the member's @username.
  2. Select the desired name from the list that appears.

When you mention a member, they will get an email notification that you mentioned them in a post. It will also create a link to the member’s profile in the message.

How to Send a Private Message

You can send a private message to another ConnectShareCare member or group.

  1. Click the member's username to go to their profile page.
  2. Click Send Private Message under the member's bio.
  3. Write a subject and your message.
    • You can add other members to the private message by typing their usernames in Add Recipients (Do not include @).
  4. Click Send Message.

How to Edit My Profile

 Member profiles let you tell people about yourself and help you find others.

  1. Click your profile picture in the top right and select Profile & Settings.
  2. Click EDIT to add or edit your: Name (optional)
  3. Bio (Tell us about you. Max 500 characters.)
  4. Profile photo (Use JPG, JPEG, JPE, PNG, or GIF format. Less than 5MB in size.)
  5. Click SAVE PROFILE.
  6. Click “I’m Done Editing.

Your profile also shows the Support Groups you follow and the messages you’ve posted.

How to Reset a Forgotten Password

  1. Click Sign In in the upper right.
  2. Click Forgot? next to password.
  3. Enter the email address you used to create your account
  4. You'll receive an email titled "Password reset request for ConnectShareCare." Check your spam if you do not receive the email.
  5. In the body of the email, select Reset Password
  6. Choose a unique password.
  7. Select Reset My Password
  8. Enter your email and new password
  9. Select Sign in

How to Report a Post / Comment

  1. At the bottom right of the post in question, click the three dots "..."
  2. Select Report Comment
  3. Enter your concern about the comment
  4. Select Submit

If you see a post that you think or feel is inappropriate, please report it immediately. Please note that reporting is confidential and only seen by the CSC moderation team.

Why and How We Moderate

At ConnectShareCare (CSC), we recognize the value of peer-to-peer sharing. Patients/ persons with illness, caregivers/ care partners, family, and friends know things — about themselves, their family members, treatments, and choices — and they want to share what they know to help others. By sharing our health experiences together, we build collective knowledge and a community of support. CSC is a private forum. CSC Moderators and our volunteers are committed to keeping the community: safe, supportive, inclusive, and useful

The Moderators monitor the messages posted by CSC community members to check for information that could be misleading or harmful. We also watch for anyone abusing the conditions outlined in the Community Guidelines and Terms of Use. We do not edit or remove messages or ban members without good reason. Views expressed in this community are solely the views of the members and do not represent the professional recommendations, policy, or advice of Dartmouth College.

The messages you post show up right away. We don’t screen them before they go live. While we monitor all posts, we rely on our members to tell us about inappropriate content or behavior. Moderating this way means that we can keep the community running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so that support is more accessible and available when you need it. If you see a post that you think is inappropriate, please report it immediately. Simply click "Report Comment" which is to the right of the post/ message ("...").

Please remember that discussion topics on CSC are public and the content can be found via internet search engines. This means the community can be found by other people in need of support and information. However, for your safety and privacy, we strongly advise you not to post personal information such as phone numbers, street addresses, email addresses, social security numbers, or any other private information. Personal information will be removed from public posts.
